LETTERS OF GRATITUDE – May 2020

Dear grandma,
I know that this is a difficult time. Moscow is one of the most coronavirus-infected cities in the world. Thousands of people get infected every day. Please stay home, be careful and take care of yourself.
I remember you phoned me because you found out about the tragic and deplorable situation in Italy. I could hear your trembling voice as if you were going to cry. If I were able to hug you through the screen, I would.
I remember all the good things you did to me. When I was a child, and I lived in Italy I used to dream of coming to your country house, in the Moscow region. It was always quiet, cozy and good there. And when I came to your country house, I helped you in the garden. We planted all kinds of plants, fruits, and vegetables. You always made me some scrumptious and toothsome meals, such as crêpes, pancakes with sour cream, jam, fried chicken and more. I liked to wake up from the delicious smell of just-baked crepes, and I always knew from the smell that it was really them. Sometimes we went to the river or the small shop, where we always bought ice cream and we used to eat it on the way back. I know that I have a terrible temper and not everybody can tolerate me. I remember how we quarreled, and you were angry with me.
You have been operated, I hope you will gain strength and become as strong-willed as ever, even if you don’t like being pitied. Unfortunately, time is running very fast, and I don’t even want to realize that one day you might pass away.
Although I can’t come this summer and we aren’t able to meet, you are always on my mind and heart. I am sure, everything will be fine and as before, and I will see you soon
